These abominations are created by the Architects of the Flesh, using advanced arcano-technology and biotech to infuse humans (and other beings) with demonic parts and essences. They are used as super-soldiers.
The CDCA's plan was to turn demons from the ancient past into super soldiers. It didn't work too well at first. The Alpha Beasts were nothing compared to what came later, but they were still terrifying on the battlefield. The second generation prototypes proved more vicious but just as expendable.
Abominations are the perfect soldiers - able to keep fighting until utterly destroyed.
